MARCH

CARNIVAL ‘The ‘Carnevale Ambrosiano‘ is always a big event  involving all the squares of the city. The parade of traditional Milanese masks takes place in Piazza Duomo, of course. Traditionally, the carnival of Milan is the last one celebrated in Italy. Dates: 04-08 Mar 2014

 MILANO SANREMO – CYCLING RACEIt is a male road cycling race, the most important and longest (almost 300 km) 1 day race in Italy! The Milano-Sanremo is also know as Classicissima as the first race is dated 1906!!! Internationally known, it opens the season of the European races calendar.

With his 7 victories the Belgian Eddy Merckx is the champion whit the absolute record of victories obtained by a cyclist in a single large classic! Until 1937 it took always place during the day of St. Joseph – the 19 of March – but since this day is no longer a festivity in Italy, the date chosen is the closest weekend.

• half marathon for professionals

MILAN DESIGN WEEK The Salone Internazionale del Mobile is the most important design furniture fair of the world. In those days Milan becomes the capital of design: the place to be for any company or designer that counts! If you are planning a trip to Milan in this period think better book everything about 1 year before… to find a flight, a train or an hotel ‘last minute’ is almost impossible or extremely expensive. ART ALONG THE NAVIGLIO GRANDE ‘Arte sul Naviglio Grande‘ takes place every year in May and it is one of the first events organized by the local artists in this gorgeous channel. More than 200 artist coming from all over Italy show here their artworks. Wonderful scenario along the first 2 km of the Naviglio Grande. Restaurants, shops, art studios and cafes are open too! NavigaMI BOAT SHOW Do you like sailing and you think it will be impossible in Milan? Wrong! The channels in town are navigable! (to read more go to SEE) Since 2009 this event shows all the love of this city to his water channels. Boats, stands with nautical products and the wonderful Naviglio Grande!
